Blonde Ambition

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me about my hair...

Who does your hair?
How do you keep it SO blonde and SO healthy?
How often do you wash your hair?
Are you wearing extensions?
What products do you use?

Since it seems that inquiring minds would like to know, I have teamed up with "the hair whisperer", Andrea Trejo at Chrome Salon, my hair stylist of almost 10 years, to give you scoop on my doo!

First, let me say that I have been dying my hair since I was a senior in HS, so I honestly do NOT know what my natural hair color is, but I know that it is some sort of blonde.

Second, I have to say that I am meticulous about my hair, and work very hard to maintain this mane, and without Andrea, I would be lost in the world with mediocre hair!

Here is what Andrea has to say about my locks and how she cares for them...
"Reah's hair is extremely dense with naturally occurring "beachy" loose waves. Like most of us with "chemically dependent" hair, Reah's hair has the tendency to lose its luster as the ends become dehydrated".
"To defend against dehydration, we maintain Reah’s color and light reshaping of the cut every five to six weeks. This process also helps to retain the color radiance and nurture the overall health of her hair".
"For Reah's color, we lift her natural icy cool blonde one shade, and then add a sunny golden tone, then for added depth, I do a hybrid technique of foiling and Balayage highlights, which is an excellent means of adding a bold saturation of pale blonde without compromising dimension. I finish the color with a clear shine gloss applied from the roots to the ends. The color gloss is rich with keratin, which helps the hair’s cuticle rest smoothly. Additionally, it creates a more reflective texture to the hair and helps sustain the true color between services, while adding more manageability".

To recreate Reah's sleek layered look with styling...
Start by adding Bumble and Bumble’s (B &B) Tonic to clean, towel dried hair,
which is the foundation of the style we create.
It detangles the hair and helps equalize the porosity.

Next, add a conservative amount of B&B’s Be Straight for added softness on the ends,
as well as, for extra heat protection and to tame any frizzy ends.

For a sleek polished look, a flat brush is ideal to use when blow drying.
I suggest a nine row Denman Styling Brush.
Once the hair is completely dry, complete the process by pressing the hair
through a CHI flat iron (in sections) to achieve Reah's pin straight look.
B & B Does it All is a subtle working spray that is ideal for when her hair needs a small amount of hold and soft effortless finish. It is also magnificent for next day restyling and adds extra heat protection in order to minimize damage to the hair.

"At the end of this process, Reah’s result is rich natural shades of blonde with beaming dimensional tones that enhance her natural features and maximize light reflection. Hair originally characterized as chilly and overcast transforms into a warm sunny spring day due to a simple process, which highlights her preexisting features".
Voila!

Once I leave the salon, I remain diligent about the at home care of my hair, using salon quality color safe products to preserve my professional hair color, and I only wash my hair every 2/3 days!
In addition to Bumble & Bumble, here are some of my other favorite products...

Moroccan Oil applied for protectant and smooth, sleek finish
It's A Ten- Miracle Leave-In Product for daily conditioning
CHI Silk Infusion applied before I blow dry
CHI Shine Infusion applied after straightening
Biosilk Silk Therapy applied as the very last step for sleek shine and split end prevention

So, there you have it. My never-ending journey to blonde ambition!
If you are in the LA area and looking for a great stylist, I HIGHLY recommend giving Andrea a call.
She is amazing!

What are your favorite hair products?
How do you keep your hair healthy and happy? Would love to know!
